It’s also important to be more mindful of your words and actions. We as humans go about our day and live it without thinking about the consequences of our actions and choice of words. There’s always a better way to say something and an even better way when showing love and compassion.
According to author, speaker, and mindfulness coach Diane Sieg, there are additional tips to help you improve your awareness and be more mindful. These tips include: focusing on one thing at a time, slowing down, eat mindfully, keep phone and computer time in check, and spend time in nature. “You give yourself a real gift when you can remember to take things one step at a time and savor each moment. Mindfulness is about being more present and aware of your behavior in each moment. It can help you change habits that are no longer serving you.”
”Mindfulness practices can help us to increase our ability to regulate emotions, decrease stress, anxiety and depression. ... As we become more present in our lives and in relation to others, it can help us to make better decisions, to manage our emotions and to be more fully engaged in life.”
“Learning to be mindful can help increase your belief and ability to recover. It will help you to fully embrace all that life has to offer.”
In addition, the benefits are life changing. Mindfulness improves your wellbeing, your physical health, and mental health, according to Harvard Health Publishing.
Improvement in wellbeing: “Being mindful makes it easier to savor the pleasures in life as they occur, helps you become fully engaged in activities, and creates a greater capacity to deal with adverse events.”
Improvement in physical health: ”can help relieve stress, treat heart disease, lower blood pressure, reduce chronic pain, , improve sleep, and alleviate gastrointestinal difficulties.”
Improvement in mental health: “mindfulness meditation [has been] an important element in the treatment of a number of problems, including: depression, substance abuse, eating disorders, couples’ conflicts, anxiety disorders, and obsessive-compulsive disorder.”
